Friends of Fractal Praxis,
It is my deep honor and joy to invite you into a one-of-a-kind ritual space, dedicated to surfacing and shedding all the stuck shit in our nervous systems from unprocessed rage, grief, frustration, and anger.
An original ceremony curated, designed, and priestessed by me and an incredible team (Phannie/RLM and Piper Rose/Shadowplay)... YES, IT'S:
Origins of this offering
Purge Church grew out of my own solo practice. 🦇
As a person suffering from C-PTSD, as an educated person, as a woman, as a decolonizing white person... I have SO MUCH RAGE that I feel for the way things are in the world, felt in both micro-interactions and macro-behaviors, and everything in between. But despite these real and rather common feelings, there are TOO FEW places to validate and express them.
- Actual "church"/sangha/peers couldn't hold this.
- Western models of therapy couldn't hold this.
- My family couldn't hold this.
- Society denies, invalidates and marginalizes experiences that go against the grain of its narratives, and so definitely cannot hold this.
- Radical close-to-the-earth community may have gotten closest, but also didn't do the trick.
So... who else but me must hold this? 🥹
Thus since childhood I have developed a strong tendency to bottle up and "pent up" my anger. This was necessary for survival in various situations as I was coming of age and in my young female adulthood.
The problem is, these internalized negative emotions can swirl and create toxicity and volatility in my body, mind, and also they can get misplaced/displaced into present-day relationships in the form of inappropriate eruptions. 🍾
For as long as that charge lives in me, improperly digested, unchannelled, it lives in my shadow, where it is liable to stalk my dreams and disrupt and disorder my healthy growth and relationships. 👻
Containers of "therapy" are too small. I needed something bigger.
I need NATURE, inner and outer, to hold me. 🌲🌲🌲
I need WITNESS, inner and outer, to honor me. 👁️👁️👁️
I need an intricate SOUNDSCAPE to engulf me... 🔊🔊🔊 and spontaneous strange MOVEMENTS to unleash me. 💃💃💃
I needed unbridled PERMISSION for these feelings, and my body as channel, to simply BE!!!! ✔️✔️✔️
Thus PURGE CHURCH was conceived. 🦇

Purge Church started as a solo practice. When nobody else was home... 🏠
and when I was feeling an ineluctable mysterious restless buzzing feeling inside of myself (that indicated I was compressed to the max 🗜️ and it was time to BUST LOOSE), ⚡
I would clear the floor, prep the stereo, wear loose or little clothing, and ready the playlist. 📻
Then: I would just EXPLODE with intense primal movement until I was physically spent. 💥
In such an altered state—a cauldron!—like that, communion and liberation of SPIRIT is the most powerful result/medicine. 🕯️
You know how a deer will literally shake its skin after a frightening encounter with a predator? Trauma theory says this kind of shaking helps reduce the impacts of trauma by flushing out the adrenaline and related chemicals from the system. By contrast, if we freeze up 🧊 that "charge" can remain stuck inside of us, only to emerge in distorted ways later.
To survive and get by in 2024, I trust that all of us bottle up & freeze up, to some extent. Purge Church is offered as a remedy to help flush these stuck micro-traumas out of your system. All you gotta do is shake, wiggle, rattle, roll, rock, knock, bounce, bump, stomp, pulse, shiver, quiver, grunt, grumble, tremble, crumble, flop, bop, dance, thrash, gnash, wail, flail... or whatever else feels right to YOUR body to do!.... it aaaaaaalllllllllllllll out.
