Change is always acoming.

My patterns are changing. I'm no longer writing these newsletters the way I used to. I've drafted 5-6 newsletters over the last three months, and none of them were sent out. Over the last two months especially, there's been a lot of "swirl" and upheaval in my life's personal patterns. The shifts have truly ABSORBED my attention and energy.

In December, I developed a content calendar to manage the content I'm publishing on Instagram (check me out there!!) And I think it's time I develop a similar structure for this newsletter-blog. Instead of a flow-based approach to writing these, I'll have contents loosely outlined and ready for polishing each week. Ideally a combo of flow and on-point-ness. One thing I think I'll welcome about this change is the (more disciplined) rhythm. Without rhythms my flow-based life would rather quickly go right off the rails! 🚊💥

Due to time & energy constraints this week, this message didn't quite make it out of its outline form and into a flowing missive. Please forgive this! I offer it, imperfectly, anyway.

🕯️Impromptu Imbolc, Sunday 2/4 at 4:04pm MT🕯️

I'm holding an impromptu Imbolc ceremony HYBRID (online and in-person) from 4:04-5:44pm MT THIS Sunday 2/4/24. Click here to access the Google Meet to join virtually & save to your calendar. Email or text me to RSVP!

In this modest ritual space, we'll praise the light's return (as we honor the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox) and revere Brigid, goddess of fertility, inspiration, creativity and nourishment. We'll do so in the improvisational, emergent, wacky way that best praises creation itself—a co-created ritual space! Bring practices, crafts, songs, dances, poems, or other creative expressions you want to "offer" to Brigid, and as host/priest, I'll do my best to weave the madness into a semi-coherent ceremony. Hope you can make it!

Other items:

  • Coming out on IG
    • Last night I published the final post in a series designed to creatively re-introduce me within the channel of Instagram, and express my chagrin and critique of social media, too. This last post also acts as a segue to the next campaign I'll be running on IG for the month of February, which is all about What is Fractal Praxis, and how to make it actionable in your life NOW.
  • Relationship Evolution – I've been in a bit of a midlife crisis compounded with another primary crisis of reparenting my wounded inner child and developing right relationship between her and my adult self. Like selves and agendas inside of me, at war with each other. ⚔️ As I let go of the part of ME that wants to keep me small to remain protected, this period of my life has involved shedding, shaking off, and letting go of significant relationships that were suited to my smallness (consciously or unconsciously). A disorienting shedding period this massive precedes a phase of reemergence/rebirth, which I feel like I am now in. 🌅
  • Developing the FP community & offerings
    • Shoutout to the first ever member of the Fractal Praxis Embodiers Circle (thank you, Aeysha! 🌺) Aeysha is a young empathic medicine woman healer based in the Cleveland, Ohio area. I have loved getting to know you, and I look forward to the magic we will generate together in the Embodiers Circle!
      • If you're inclined to go deeper in your study & practice of Fractal Praxis, Embodiers Circle is something to consider. It's going to be THE place to come into intimate and integral engagement with FP's teachings, experience witness and growth in a peer-based circle, and provide feedback to shape FP's path. I'll share more on this in upcoming posts.
  • Developing LSI
    • Living Systems Institute is a nonprofit founded in 2013. Our updated mission statement is: "To build soil, store carbon, produce abundance, and restore an understanding that each individual’s well-being is closely linked to the well-being of the natural environment and the broader community. We offer fun and accessible gardening workshops, design simple and innovative educational materials, and help like-minded neighbors connect with one another to grow habitat, food, knowledge, and community."
    • Recently I was asked to step in as executive director by the founder and long-time executive director, David Braden. This is a clear instance of socio-organizational-ecological succession, as David is nearing the end of his life. I am honored to have been asked to carry on this legacy, and will do my best as a steward leader to honor this responsibility.
    • Right now I am working to get in the swing of things and find my mesh within the existing energized volunteer community and find the niche that my unique skills and knowledges can offer.
    • David is a bona fide systems thinker, and I see his deeper purpose as awakening people about how to revise their relationships with each other and the land. We talk about changing a "pattern of interactions" to be more regenerative, less extractive. I think David recognizes that my own thinking with Fractal Praxis is a kin/relative of his thinking. We are both dedicated to thinking in systems, looking carefully at the causes and conditions of things and disrupting our own assumptions as needed, to try to "get to the root" of the changes that will have the greatest, holistic impacts for all beings.
    • You can support our work by (if you're in the area) consider hiring a Reinhabit Co-op gardener to help you turn your yard into habitat and low-energy gardens! You can also make a donation on LSI's website.

Please join in person or virtually for 🕯️ impromptu imbolc 🕯️ if you wish! It shall be a good place to call in inspiration and express creativity, and who doesn't need a dose of that medicine every once in a while?

See you soon!
